Washington police arrested Christopher Shelton Timmons, 27, Friday after police spotted an AK-47 in the back of Timmons' Jeep Cherokee when he stopped to ask a police officer for directions two blocks away from the Nation's Capitol.

"Timmons, has been charged with carrying a deadly weapon, having an unregistered firearm and having unregistered ammunition," Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said.

Not only did police find the Ak-47 in the back of Timmons' Jeep, they found a grenade, a pistol, ammunition, loaded magazines "and several other items of concern to the police."

Back in March, Timmons was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon in Albemarle County, Virginia, and served one month in jail. Also, in that incident police found two grenades in his car. "The pins had been removed and the grenades were filled with powder," authorities said. "They had an adhesive on top to close them and a firecracker for a fuse."

Police said that the grenade found in his car Friday were exactly similar to the ones found in Virginia. Police have still yet to find out what were Timmons' intentions of attack were.
