Marion Jones was released today from a federal prison in San Antonio, Texas after serving a six-month sentence for lying to prosecutors about using steroids that helped her win five medals, three of them gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

For years, Jones denied the use of performance-enhancing drugs that helped her win at the 2000 Olympics. In October, last year she pleaded guilty to two charges of perjury and was sentenced in January by a federal judge in New York. Jones reported to prison this year March 7, and was released today at 9 a.m. ET, Friday, Sept. 5th.

In 2003, she admitted that she lied to federal investigators about using the banned substance tetrahydrogestrinone (THG), known as “the clear,” before the 2000 Olympics. An admitted steroid dealer testified that he gave Jones a cocktail of steroids right before the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

In 2007, Jones was stripped of her five medals, three of which were gold and all of her performances as of Sept. 2000 have been erased from the record books.
